Photo Print Day for Ukraine
Photo Print Day is a neat idea from photographer Jim Mottram. An annual exchange of prints for a minimum £€$10 donation to charity with the first event Planned for September.
Soon after the awful events in Ukraine a special Photo Print Day pop-up event was organised to help raise funds for Ukraine specific charities.
Last time there was a war in Europe so close to home I jumped in a van and drove humanitarian aid to the hills above the battle. My driving humanitarian aid across Europe days are over but I had to do something.
My new darkroom was complete and I could easily make some prints and join in. Play my part and make a small difference.
Choosing the right image was easy. I had already ear-marked the shot of Sharifa’s hands for printing. I liked the subtle message; hands reaching out to help or hands reaching out for help. I shut myself in the darkroom, turned off the lights and set about making the prints.
I made 3 prints, each one hand printed on 8 x 10 inch Ilford Multigrade V RC Glossy paper. They were available on a first come first served basis with a comment or DM with proof of a donation securing a print.
I sold all 3 prints that day and each donation exceeded the minimum amount. A huge thank you, you know who you are. I’m sure your donation will make a difference and you saved me from driving humanitarian aid across Europe again. Love & peace! x
