Face value - Offline Journal Feature

I am honoured to be featured oN and in issue #008 of Offline Journal.

Offline Journal is a limited edition magazine of contemporary photography in Wales. The Journal and its supplements are edited and published by Brian Carroll, a graphic designer, videographer and co-founder of Ffoton Wales.

We had a lovely chat, discussing my portraits and my days in art college where I immersed myself in drawing, painting and typography. It’s also where I caught the photography and darkroom printing bug.

I am always drawn to strong imagery and words and so seeing my work printed on the page with considered layout and type gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

The choice of uncoated paper works well with my black and white photographs and the colour work of the other photographers certainly pops from the page. Printing heavy inks on an uncoated stock can be risky but the quality is there and images are faithfully reproduced.

Issue #008 has 40 pages exploring portraiture projects around Wales. It’s packed with work and articles from Robert Greetham, Geoff Wedge, Emyr Payne, Neil Johansson, Garry Stuart, Anna Jones, Camille Relet, Gareth Phillips, Ffion Denman, Siân Addicott / Ffotogallery, Asma Elmi, Emyr Young, David Mayne, Mark Griffiths, Peter Evans, David Hurn and Ieuan Berry.

It’s an honour to be featured alongside other photographers of this calibre working in and around Wales. There is so much quality work being produced here!

Huge thanks to Brian for his enthusiasm and efforts in showcasing and promoting photography. Diolch!

Copies are available to purchase directly from the Offline website.
